My husband Brandon and I got married on August 22nd, 2009. We had an outdoor ceremony and reception at the Cornwall Inn. Despite a hurricane earlier in the week, the weather cooperated enough that the ceremony and photos were accomplished sans rain. I began my love affair with all things peacock during my wedding, and based my color scheme and atmosphere of the day around the incredible birds. I love all things detailed, simple, and elegant. I accomplished this with classic elements like my simple 1930's style dress paired with my coordinating bridesmaid dresses. The groomsmen did without jackets to embody the casual attitude of an outdoor ceremony. Brandon's sisters stood with him, breaking with tradtion but accomplishing the task of having the most valued people standing next to the couple on their big day. We had our parents' and my grandparents' wedding dresses and photos displayed as a nod to our past. We included our family in the ceremony through our party, blessing, and prayer time as a nod to our present. The nod to our future came as we left the reception in my Dad's 1950's Thunderbird after fireworks. I had so much fun planning our wedding and all the details that came along with it: the Starbucks gift card favors, the music video we made to show our guests after dinner, and the hand-painted guestbook that now hangs in our home. My only regret is that I couldn't be my own coordinator!
